RECONSIDER BABY - Elvis Sings The Blues (1985)
http://desmond.**************/Himg594/scaled.php?server=594&filename=reconsiderbaby.jpg&res=medium
This is a collection of blues songs by Elvis Presley. It was released back in 1985 with the intention to prove that Elvis was a great blues singer. Mission accomplished. Elvis tears it up on these blues songs. One thing that made this album special was the previously unreleased versions, mixes and edits of some of the songs here. This was the first time the Sun master of "Tomorrow Night" was released without the horrible overdubbing that was added in 1965. This marked the first release of the version of "One Night" with the original "dirtier" lyrics. "Ain't That Loving You, Baby?" is a previously unreleased alternate take played at a faster tempo. "Stranger in My Own Home Town" features an alternate mix that sounds noticeably different to my ears. And "Merry Christmas Baby" is a much longer edit than ever before, lasting over seven minutes. This is a revelatory CD which is well worth getting.
TRACKLIST:
01. Reconsider Baby (3:41)
02. Tomorrow Night (Edited Sun Master) (3:02)
03. So Glad You're Mine (2:22)
04. One Night (Edited Alternate Take With Original Lyrics) (2:45)
05. When It Rains, It Really Pours (1:51)
06. My Baby Left Me (2:14)
07. Ain't That Loving You, Baby? (Edited Alternate Take) (2:35)
08. I Feel So Bad (2:55)
09. Down In The Alley (2:52)
10. Hi-Heel Sneekers (2:48)
11. Stranger In My Home Town (Alternate Mix/Edit) (3:49)
12. Merry Christmas, Baby (Alternate Mix/Edit) (7:18)
I thought the sound on the old CD sounded too muffled for today's standards,
so I made a few tricks here and there and cleaned it up a little...
No harm done, assuming all of us have the original in any form (CD, FLAC or MP3).
