Intresting turn of events, this discussion has basically turned into criticizing a certain user for a less than optimal use of the english language, I can only assume that those that quickly pointed out the mistake are well versed on the english language so we may as well make it the official one. The question posed at the start of the thread is in already partly answered in the first post. If some very moderate reforms already caused this kind of opposition we can only wonder what would have been the result of a much more radical approach. However if Claude would have been indeed elected that would have implied a much more left-oriented scenario which would mean a high number of citizens firmly behind the reforms ( its worth remembering that Allende was only elected with 36% of the votes because there was no ballotage back then). In that situation I think that the strategy of the right would have been defending the current reforms Bachelet is trying to implement as some kind of middle ground ( this is what the venezuelan right tried to do under Capriles by the way). Anyway its worth noting that the reforms Claude wanted were probably risky at best, specially nationalization of copper. This is probably the reason why he didnt stand a chance to win the elections anyway. Ps: Rocco, unfortunaly the only other romance language that I can manage apart from spanish is french.
