The O.C., serie de televisión estadounidense, producida por la cadena FOX y emitida en diferentes partes del mundo. La serie narró la historia de un grupo de jóvenes y sus familias en el rico condado de Orange (Orange County en inglés, de donde procede la abreviación que da nombre a la serie).

Su primer capítulo fue estrenado el 5 de agosto de 2003, convirtiéndose en uno de los más importantes éxitos de la televisión norteamericana[1] . La serie además se convirtió en el primer drama adolescente aclamado por la crítica desde Beverly Hills, 90210, una década antes. Tras cuatro temporadas, FOX anunció la cancelación de la serie, el 3 de enero de 2007.[2] El último episodio, tras cuatro temporadas, fue estrenado el 22 de febrero de 2007.

La serie, creada por Josh Schwartz, destacó por su mezcla de comedia, humor espontáneo, drama juvenil y música contemporánea. Desde el 26 de Enero de 2007, la serie The O.C. está disponible para su descarga en Foro Alegre

Trama:

La serie se basa en la vida y convivencia de las adineradas familias del sur de California, en Newport Beach, condado de Orange. La historia se inicia cuando Ryan Atwood, un joven problemático con una familia desestructurada que vive en Chino un barrio marginal a pocos kilómetros de Newport Beach, se ve involucrado en el robo de un automóvil junto a su hermano. Tras ser abandonado por su familia, es recogido por su defensor público, Sandy Cohen y lo lleva a vivir junto a su familia a Newport.

Ryan llega a Newport e intenta adaptarse al nuevo mundo en el que se encuentra. Junto a Sandy está su esposa, Kirsten, hija de un multimillonario y directora de una importante empresa inmobiliaria, y su hijo Seth, un adolescente friki que no encaja con la juventud de Newport. Ryan pronto logra integrarse a la familia y ser considerado un hijo por los Cohen y en el mejor amigo de Seth. Atwood comienza a relacionarse con Marissa Cooper, su vecina, con quien establece una relación amorosa.

Pronto, Ryan comienza a descubrir el verdadero mundo de Newport Beach tras la belleza, la riqueza y la ostentación. The O.C. trata varios temas, mostrando pero a la vez criticando la sociedad alta de la Costa Oeste estadounidense.
