Vital Slim Keto Tabata wanted to test the protocol with athletes at different levels. Tabata's original study of 1996 examined two groups of amateur athletes who were in their thirties: The first group pedaled on an ergometer for 60 minutes at a moderate intensity (70% of VO2 max.).
