Dance-punk, twee pop and various genres often considered to be offshoots of indie rock

WHAT ISN'T INDIE ROCK
-artists (such as Creed and The Offspring) who were or are signed to indie label, but are never considered "indie rock".
-Several alternative rock bands which spent their entire career on indie labels before "indie rock" came into being (The Smiths).
-1980's "college rock" artists (REM, Robyn Hitchcock)
-Radiohead
-most, if not all, Britpop artists.
-Certain artists which used to be on a major label but have left to become an indie or unsigned artist (Nine Inch Nails, XTC)
-General alternative rock bands
